Flag football is a low- or no-contact sport, but that does not mean it is inherently safe. Follow these tips to make sure your next game is safe and fun.

Wear protective equipment, including glass guards, goggles and mouthguards.

Never wear cleats when playing flag football.

Never tie your flags onto a belt or tuck them into clothing. Wear all flags properly.

Refrain from tackling or striking the opponent, and do not initiate unnecessary rough play.

Play stops directly after the removal of a flag.

Be aware of the most common injuries that occur during flag football games. Angkle sprains are the most common, and they occur when the ankle rolls over the foot’s outer side. Sprains are most frequent when jumping to catch the ball, changing directions suddenly or stepping on the foot of another player.

Knee injuries are also common, and they occur when the knee is hyperextended or forcefully twisted. Most often, this happens when players collide or change directions quickly on the field.

Concussions are possible during flag football games, and they require immediate attention. Signs of a concussion include loss of consciousness, confusion, forgetfulness, memory lapses and clumsy movements. Players may also seem unsteady and speak slowly.

How Does a Game of Flag Football Work?

Flag football is very popular in the United States and in Canada. The basic rules are you tackle someone by removing their flag. This helps to prevent injury on the field, and it also reduces the need for wearing protective padding. It is basically the same thing as playing football, only their is less chance that you will be injured while you are playing. There are no strict rules on how many players can be on each team. But usually the teams are evenly matched. They can have anywhere between five and nine players on a team. Sometimes you are allowed to punt and score field goals and sometimes you aren’t. Most of the time, you get a touchdown and it is six points and then you can try for a point after conversion is well. When we used to play flag football in college, we got six points for a touchdown and 1 for successfully completing a point after conversion.

The important thing when you are playing flag football is to decide which of your players are going to help the lineman and which ones are going to go out for a pass. Usually you’re allowed to do some minor blocking but you aren’t allowed to tackle. If the quarterback goes into a shotgun position, they will have more time to find a player to pass the ball to. Some versions of like football involve a four or five alligator countdown. When you have a countdown, you typically don’t need lineman to protect the quarterback. Rather, you are going have all of your players go out and try and get open so that they can receive a pass.

Any coach will tell you that one of the biggest challenges of coaching is building up the personality of a team. It is one of the keys to success – a team that knows its identity and its strengths and weaknesses can tailor its schemes and approach to maximize the odds of winning.

Putting your team through challenging practice sessions will help you identify leaders. Who steps up when times are tough? Who lifts up their teammates and who quits? Once you find out who you would like the leaders to be, put them in positions of leadership and consider electing them to be captains.

In football, identifying the strongest facets of your team will help you tailor game plans on offensive, defense, and special teams to give you the best chance to win – synergistic game plans. For example, if you have a strong defense, you are better able to take chances on offense, knowing that your defense will be able to stop opponents. On the other hand, if your defense is less than stellar, a ball control offense will disrupt the offensive flow of the opponents and give you a better chance of limiting points. Finding strengths and focusing on them will give you the best opportunity for success.

Football is an amazing sport. Being out on the field trying to outwit your opponents on a weekly basis is a great way for kids and adults alike to have good clean fun. Flag and touch football is a bit different than normal football. Rather than having to tackle someone to get them to be defined as out all you have to do is either touch them or rip the flag off of their belt. Flag football is generally considered a safer but just as fun a form of football.

There are many strategies to help you keep your flag flying behind you. One way to learn to do it like the pros is to watch the pros. Spend a few hours on the weekend and watch a pro team. Sure they don’t have flag but the same concepts apply to a flag game as a normal game. Learn to move as they do. Watch them watch their opponents. Also make sure that you are training at home. Doing speed drills at home is a great way to become faster than the competition. When you’re faster than they are there’s no way they’ll be able to either touch you or rip your flag off!

Flag football has always been a great past time for kids but adults can still have fun with this. The best way to start your own league is through social networking sites. This is a great way for you to communicate with people who may be interested in joining your league.

The best way to get the world out amongst your hundreds of internet friends is to post a comment. As they see the post they will contact you about their interest and who they can bring into league. You will need to find a place to play but this will be easy.

Most public parks will let you rent out the space for a day for minimal cost. A lot of parks only charge 50 dollars a day for all day use and when you divide this up amongst everyone then it is even cheaper. Just be sure to check with your parks department to make sure that the space is available.

As you play games more people will join your team. This is the best way to get your own league started but you can still use social networking to find one so you don’t have to go through the hassle of starting one yourself. Flag football is a great way to relax no matter how you find a league to play.

Lovers of football all over America can play their favorite sport without needing to invest in the heavy pads and helmets required for full on tackle football. This has the added benefit of avoiding the crushing tackles and hits that can cause severe injury.

Touch football involves touching the ball carrier with one or both hands in order to “tackle” them. The only thing needed to play touch football is a group of friends, a football, and enough space to play it on. No costly equipment is required. Since two hand touch generally avoids the use of defensive and offensive lines, a counting system is usually put into place, where any defenders who wish to rush the quarterback must count to a pre-determined number first. This gives a teams quarterback enough time to find a receiver, just not an indefinite time.

Flag football follows similar rules, but each player has a flag made from fabric attached to them, usually by means of a belt. In order to “tackle” in flag football, the flag must be taken from the ball carrier. This makes the acting of stopping the ball carrier a bit trickier. Flag football has several amateur and semi-professional organizations.

After the game it’s nice to go home, pop open a beer and hang out with friends. If you have friends over all the time and entertain, you energy bill will undoubtedly increase. Use a deregulated energy company like, just energy to help decrease your cost.

If you don’t have an official set of flag football belts, does that mean you’re blocked from playing? In official league play, perhaps, but not in your own backyard. Here are a few interesting replacements for belts and flags to get your game started. For each of these options, just tuck them into your belt. Don’t tie them around your waistthat’s a recipe for injury (and besides, it’s cheating).

Socks: Simply slip one or two long dress socks in your shorts to perfectly replicate a flag belt. For best results, use socks you’re not planning on wearing to your next job interview.

Toilet paper: To make a really difficult game, use strips of toilet paper. Unlike some of the more resistant flag belts, one grasp at these sheets will send you out of the game.

Ties: Make your flag a fashion statement by choosing a trendy tie to tuck into your shorts. Whether it’s adorned with cartoon characters or a tasteful cross-stitch pattern, your opponents will be sure to admire it as they race towards you.

Ribbons: This is also a way to make the game more difficultthis time for the defense. Use ribbons that aren’t too long so they won’t tangle around your feet. Watch as your opponents try to grasp at them, but be ready to make some quick snatches when you switch to defense.
